SoftwareInReview looked at data recovery software programs. Listed below are our top seven data recovery programs for 2011. Each program was ranked based on ease of use, recovery effectiveness, and availability of help/support. Here is a brief review of each program.
- Digital Rescue Premium –www.dtransfer.com/products/digital-rescue/
It doesn’t get any better than Digital Rescue Premium when you need to recover data files. The speed at which files can be recovered is amazing. The turnaround time on support is a few hours as opposed to the customary 24 to 48 hours. The best part of this software program is that there is absolutely no learning curve.
- Advanced Disk Recovery – www.systweak.com
Advanced Disk Recovery gets high marks for recovering more deleted files than any other software we reviewed. The program concentrates on giving the user clear-cut data recovery tools, making it easy to use. Your help/support options include a manual, tutorials, and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section. In addition they have both a contact number and email address if you need to contact them directly.
- Recover My Files – www.recovermyfiles.com
This data recovery software does all the work for you. It provides both a basic and detailed search option. We recommend the detailed search even though it takes a little longer to get results. Recover My Files could use a more inclusive help tool, but the support team does get high marks for a quick and detailed response when the online contact form is utilized.
- Data Recovery Wizard – www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard
This program offers both a basic and a complete data recovery option. The basic option returns only minimal results. And, while the complete option will provide you with an extensive list of results, it is much slower than other data recovery software. Support tools are provided with this software program, however, there is no option to talk to a live person.
- Total Recall – www.totalrecall.com
This program provides five data recovery scanning options. With that many options, it is almost impossible not to recover the files you have lost. It’s simple point and click options makes it easy to use. The program lost points for help/support because although it provides an extremely detailed help manual, it doesn’t have a contact number.
- Handy Recovery – www.handyrecovery.com
Handy Recovery is a good program, but other data recovery programs are definitely better. This program’s search results were inconsistent. Additionally, the search results often did not recover files that were easily found by other programs on the market. Handy Recovery was also the only software program we reviewed that did not provide a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section for support.
- Windows Data Recovery – www.diskdoctors.net/aff/cj/windows-data-recovery/buy.html
Windows Data Recovery was less user friendly than the other programs we reviewed because it is not straightforward. It does have an extremely in depth search, allowing you to recover files you didn’t even know existed. The program also offers extensive help/support. However, the price tag is high and is not indicative of the value of the product.
